First class on anatomy: gentleness

The anatomy-classes of the course have a very specific intent: allowing students to work on living bodies all the time so they get a tactile understanding of how to touch and work with living human beings. But that is just one important part – the other is to understand how anatomy works when it´s alive.

The two teachers have focused on how to create a safe atmosphere for this, and spent a lot of time in being specific on how to make students comfortable with partially undressing in front of others, and having them learn how a body works through working on and feeling yours.

There is one male and one female teacher, both very good. Especially the female teacher has a great and solid gentleness that is truly marvelous to see. You don´t meet many people with that level of heart. Very impressive.

They taught towel-technique, that is how you use towels to maintain a patient´s modesty during body-work, especially during class when you might have a whole room full of people who might see you...something that most students had issues with, it turned out.

Next week the course in Physiology starts: they are on alternate weeks. I have already started brushing up my knowledge about cell-structures. Great.
