Playing hookie in Camden

Sitting in a Starbucks in Camden. Somewhere else, a chinese medicine class continues on the basic ideas of yin and yang and the Five Elements. I have taught those topics for years, so removed myself to do some independent study and work instead.

It´s sunlight outside, bright sunlight on the buildings of Camden Lock. Camden market is next door, and the clothing market, where a young Frederick Bulsara worked in a stall to fill out his thin wallet while he studied fashion in London. Later, he never ran out of money for that wallet. He came to give the world an incredible joy through his voice, but under another name: Freddie Mercury.

A very loud american is sitting behind me (the ones who are not seem to be kept in small enclaves in the US, and never leave the country). He is discussing film photography and shooting people, keeping them in frame, not in frame, having, like, a depth in the middle, but unfocused paradigms towards the edge.

Camden used to be very hippie and new age, then the past few decades saw it rise to high prices and high trendiness. But the market is nice to stroll through, and the sunlight on the water of the lock, with a handful of playing starlings on the paving stones, is beautiful.

It´s a nice Starbucks. Nice staff, and a good view. There is a patio to it that overlooks the lock, so in the summer this place must be packed with tourists in every nook and cranny.
